Role: Cloud Software Engineer

Our team at Wally Labs is looking for a self-driven Cloud Software Engineer to join our small and effective team to help us build our highly-responsive, highly-scalable and highly-available services structure.

Role Responsibilities

  • Working as a cloud software engineer on Wally Labs IoT water-leak detection solution, creating and managing scalable, always available, and secure web services, with AWS data storage technologies
  • Develop and maintain sensor APIs and services for handling incoming temperature, humidity, and other data from many thousands of sensor devices in the field. Decode data and asynchronously process using Amazon SQS and Kinesis
  • Extract and process meaningful sensor information and notify the customer of any noteworthy observations (such as a water leak, etc.)
  • Integrate with external services to alert our customers via e-mail, SMS, and push notifications
  • Provide a rich API for Web and mobile clients, Expose a subset of the same API for direct customer access
  • Develop data aggregation and coaching strategies to meet query performance requirements. Integrate with the Nest and other 3rd party APIs to develop complex control algorithms to integrate into the WallyHome ecosystem
  • Implement data archival and analysis processes for large amounts of sensor, using MongoDB and Amazon Redshift, so that it can be used for long-term analysis for applications such as mold risk detection

Role Requirements

  • 1+ years of AWS experience; 3+ years of Linux server experience
  • 5+ years of JAVA and/or Python experience
  • Experience with NoSQL and relational databases
  • Startup experience and/or can-do mentality
  • Strong object-oriented programming and design skills
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline is preferred
