Why can’t I make a ‘Do’ recipe with Wally?

Do recipes are meant to trigger an action with the touch of a button on your mobile device. Since Wally offers many triggers- but no actions- you cannot make a do recipe using the Wally channel.

What if I’m having difficulties using IFTTT with Wally?

If you are having trouble while using IFTTT, check out IFTTT’s support page and contact their customer support team.

Why use IFTTT with Wally?

Wally users typically use IFTTT to receive different types of notifications, control other internet connected devices, and to keep track of maintenance issues. Visit our channel for a list of already created recipes, or start making your own. For more examples of use cases, see our IFTTT blog.

What is IFTTT and how does it work?

IFTTT allows you to control products and apps using the phrase “If This, Then That”. You can connect any two channels using this phrase.

A trigger is the if portion of the recipe. An example of a trigger is “If Wally detects a water leak”

An action is the then part of the recipe. An example of an action is “call my cell phone”

To get started, simply create a free IFTTT account, activate your Wally channel, and start adding recipes.

What is Filtering?

By selecting Filtering, you can reduce the number of alerts you receive when the temperature or humidity measurements are hovering around your alert thresholds. When Filtering is selected, your sensor measurements may briefly appear to be inside of your alert thresholds before resolving an alert.

I don’t have any more available Ethernet ports.

If there are not enough Ethernet ports on your router or modem, a switch can be used to add additional Ethernet ports to allow you to plug in your Hub. A switch will create an extended network by connecting to your router in order to share the Internet connection and provide additional Ethernet ports.

If you are interested in purchasing a switch, we recommend the NETGEAR ProSAFE 5-Port Fast Ethernet Desktop Switch (FS105).

How should I place my sensor?

The sensor can be placed horizontally or vertically. If placing the sensor horizontally, make sure that the sensor button is facing upwards.

Note: Do not place sensors directly on metal surfaces. This may trigger a false alert.

I’ve installed my kit, now what?

Wally is constantly monitoring your home. If there are any issues with moisture detected by the sensors, or abnormal readings in temperature and humidity, rest assured that Wally will alert you. Make sure that your primary and emergency contacts are up to date. For more information about home maintenance and Wally updates, check out the WallyHome blog.
